| Difficulty | Difficult only due to speed and commitment to knowing the material. Otherwise moderately difficult. |
| Comments | A high-energy orchestral dance/overture: Tonal, heavy beat (without percussion), almost a concerto grosso featuring the cello section. Big horns, lovely winds. Initially difficult but gratifying to learn and play. Inspired by hard winters in Vermont and cutting ice from ponds before the mid-20th century. |
