All contributions to the Orchestralist web site represent a gift, a contribution to the web site owner to reimburse that individual for the expense of running a site from which the Orchestralist community derives a generally acknowledged benefit.

Understandings

The Web Site Owner:

1. will use funds to meet the expenses of running the site, including, but not limited to, the registration of domain names, reservation of server space, and addition of website features;
2. will put extra monies, if any, into savings to meet future expenses;
3. will contribute funds to a worthy nonprofit orchestra-related cause chosen and clearly stated in advance by the web site owner in the event the web site goes down or can no longer be maintained;

   Suggestions have included the League of American Orchestras, and the Conductor's Guild. This is still under consideration.

4. will make a good faith effort to keep the site functional;
5. will derive no personal material gain from contributions;
6. retains full and final responsibility for the web site, its content, and its maintenance.

The Contributor:

1. understands that his or her contribution represents a nonrefundable gift to the web site owner as qualified by the expectations listed above.
2. understands that his or her contribution does not purchase ownership, in whole or in part, either of the web site or the mailing list.
3. understands that his or her contribution does not purchase any special treatment either officially or via quid pro quo.
